“Top to Bottom” has been around for 5 years and I have been trying to create sustainable fashion since day one!
We’re all aware of the impact that so-called fast fashion has on the environment and upon the humans who produce it. We’ve all seen the horror stories. But has it really changed our buying behavior? We believe that very soon the fashion industry will look radically different than it does today.
I aim to help build that future by practicing on-demand manufacturing and maintaining a commitment to sustainability with my brand. 🙂
1. We sew ”On-Demand”
“On-Demand” is a method of manufacturing in which your clothes are only produced when they are ordered by you, and made specially just for you, rather than in large batches upfront. Most fast fashion companies produce large quantities of inventory, a practice that reduces production cost but often leaves companies with an excess product at the end of the season. That is why you always see “mid-season” or similar sales out of nowhere… These extra products are discounted, marked down repeatedly, and if consumers still won’t buy, it’s thrown away or even burned, adding significant pollution to our planet.
When you place an order with us, you aren’t getting an item that’s been sitting around in a warehouse for months. You’re getting something made especially for you and only you in an ethical factory one garment at a time. 😉

2. We’re not using materials of animal origin or plastic
We are actively working on reducing the amount of plastic in our supply chain, from removing plastic packaging to finding alternative materials and substituting recycled polyester where possible. However, we have chosen to continue utilizing polyester and some other synthetic materials in our clothing, as it increases the durability and comfort of the garments. Our clothes are designed to be worn many different times over the course of a woman’s life, and the fabrics must be able to withstand the wear and tear with ease. 🙂

3. All of our clothes are multifunctional – buy once, wear it many times
From our MULTI dresses, swimsuits to our wrap-overs – everything can be worn in more than one way. By using your imagination you can create many different looks with just one piece of clothing. With our production – you will have a chance to always look different.
Fast fashion has become so cheap we don’t think about what we purchase, we just buy and buy and buy and all of these clothes that we don’t love just stack up in our wardrobes, only for us to throw them away during our next closet clear out. So instead of buying dozens of poorly made, cheap clothes, you can buy less, better quality items.
So what to do if you decided to buy smart and sustainable clothes and want to get rid of all that junk in your wardrobe?

4. Donate your old clothes or give them up for recycling
In our Vilnius studio – we accept any of your old clothing and for that give you a 10% discount to shop at ”Top to Bottom”. Your old clothing is given up for recycling to create new materials, and you get to shop with a discount – win-win.
We always encourage donating old clothes, that are still good, but you just don’t feel like wearing them anymore to charity. We’ve been included in them and are proud of it. There are a lot of people in the world who need decent clothing, so don’t just throw anything away – think about how your old clothes can benefit you or others.

5. Recycle waste!
In ”Top to Bottom” studio we are always aware of the environment. We drink our water from actual glasses, coffee from actual cups and use a recycling system. We have separate bins, which allow us to separate paper from plastic and household waste.
There are loads of amazing and beautiful metal straws, so I urge you to find your favorites, don’t use plastic or disposable plates, cups, forks, etc.
Stay mindful whenever you’re shopping so that over time our wardrobes and our lives can become more ethical.
Buying that one thing which has its own story and was made with love – will bring you much more joy and will make you feel special!
You can also research capsule wardrobes. Check out a good starting point for a capsule wardrobe for vacations.
Remember – as cheesy as it sounds. We are all in this together. And change starts with you.
Thank you for being!
Until next time,
GG
